When to Expect the Next Star Wars Movies

So as we all know by now, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is coming on December 18, and there will be two more installments, as well as spin-off films that will be part of the Star Wars universe. Now Disney head honco Bob Iger has announced when we can expect the next two movies.

Star Wars: Episode VII will be released in 2017, which could put it in collision with the next Avatar sequel, and the wrap up, Episode IX, will come out in 2019. So essentially we’ll have a new Star Wars movie every two years.

As Collider reports, Iger said in a statement, “As one of the few people allowed to visit the set during filming…and one of the fewer who’s seen most of the footage…I can assure the millions of Star Wars fans who have spent the last decade hoping for a new movie [that] this one will be worth the wait.”

According to Slash Film, the first Star Wars spin-off film will also be released in 2016, so apparently the spin-offs will fill in the gaps between years, giving us a Star Wars movie every year if all goes according to plan. Yet first, we’re hoping the first one will indeed deliver the goods as Iger promises.
