Michael Keaton Wins Best Actor Golden Globe: Is Oscar Next?

As we’ve said many times before on TG, we’re big fans of Michael Keaton, and it’s great to have him back. Now he’s won the Golden Globe, and many feel a Best Actor Academy Award could be just around the corner.

E! reports that Keaton shed some tears when he won, and he said in his acceptance speech, “In the household in which I was raised, the themes were pretty simple. Work hard, don’t quit, be appreciative, be thankful, be grateful, be respectful. Don’t complain and always, for crying out loud, keep a sense of humor.”

Keaton thanks his son, then he felt a little embarrassed about crying. “Two things I said I wasn’t going to do: cry and give air quotes. Damn. I’m so grateful…You have no idea what this means to me.” And we hope he’ll have a chance to repeat this speech again on Oscar night.

In other Keaton news, his follow up to Birdman will be the King Kong prequel Skull Island, which has a projected 2017 release date. (J.K Simmons and Tom Hiddleston are also on board to star, and Skull will be in Imax 3D.)There’s also the hope that there will be another Beetlejuice movie, Tim Burton certainly wants to do it, and writer Seth Grahame-Smith told The Hollywood Reporter he’s refused to make it a reboot, and will have ‘Juice romping around in modern day. (He also said the sequel could be, as Keaton advised, “less is more,” noting that in the first one, ‘Juice doesn’t appear into half-way through.)
