Acer founder optimistic as the company enters the smartphone market

With Acer's acquisition of smartphone maker E-Ten Information Systems set to be complete in the next few days, Stan Shih, founder of Acer, has pointed out that the reason Acer is cutting into the smartphone market is to maintain the company's continuous focus on the IT industry and that he believes Acer will be able to compete evenly with High Tech Computer (HTC).Shih said he believes Acer has the advantage due to its worldwide network of localized channels, as well as its worldwide logistics base which it has built up over 30 years.
