The consumer digital SLR market has been exploding as of late, with Canon’s popular EOS Digital Rebel line and the Pentax *ist DS. Not to be left behind, Nikon is capitalizing on the huge success of its own Nikon D70 with a new easier-to-use and more affordable version, the Nikon D50. Aside from being smaller and lighter than the D70, the 6.1-megapixel D50 will have a 2″ LCD, a shutter speed range of 30 to 1/4000 seconds, a 2.5-fps burst mode, flash exposure compensation, a new five-area autofocus system, and an AF assist lamp.
