SED LCD - a contrast revolution?

About a year ago, the contrast ratio of a TV/PC screen was 8600:1. Today, we are at 100000:1 and this incredible boost in performance is achieved thanks to SED’s “Surface-conduction Electron-emitter Display” (a joint venture between Canon and Toshiba). They presented a screen with this incredible ratio in Tokyo on April 20th. The company achieved this goal by reducing the “Black lumincae” from 0.04 cd/m2 to 0.003 cd/m2.
