Palm switches iTunes sync back on

Palm has released the latest version of webOS 1.1 bringing in a number of changes and improvements and – cough – accidentally re-enabling iTunes synching for owners of the Pre smartphone.

Apple issued a software update a week ago “that addresses an issue with verification of Apple devices,”  that blocked access to iTunes from non-Apple devices, but Palm’s vice president of business products,  John Traynor, wrote on the Palm blog yesterday:

“Oh, and one more thing: Palm webOS 1.1 re-enables Palm media sync. That’s right – you once again can have seamless access to your music, photos and videos from the current version of iTunes.”

As one reader of the blog put it, tactfully:
“Mwahaha, in your crappy overpriced faces, APPLE! Palm pwns! Media Sync once again! To be honest, I never update my iTunes, so this doesn’t affect me, but I’m just happy to see that Palm pulled another fast one on Apple. Great job guys! 🙂 lol”

Says Traynor: “Palm webOS 1.1 brings several additions to our support for Exchange ActiveSync, including remote wipe, PIN/password requirements, inactivity timeout, improved certificate handling, and more.”
