AMD prepping ATI Catalyst 9.1 with full OpenGL 3.0 support?

Santa Clara (CA) – Yesterday, FireUser.com reported AMD would release its ATI Catalyst 9.1 drivers the same day (on January 28, 2009). The site claims this refresh will come with full OpenGL 3.0 support on Radeon HD 2400 and above video cards, and that with this release, GL3.0 will be fully supported in Windows XP, Vista and Linux. FirePro V3700 and above support will come sometime later this quarter.

At the time of this writing, however, only ATI Catalyst 8.x versions were available for download in Windows Vista 32- and 64-bit versions; and 32- and 64-bit versions of Linux, both for ATI’s high-end Radeon 48000 series.

AMD did not respond to press requests related to FireUser’s claim.

See FireUser.com and AMD’s ATI Catalyst download page.
