Palm Treo 850 on sale at Best Buy for $699.99

Sunnyvale (CA) – Palm Treo 850s have begun showing up on Best Buy’s website. The new offering follows the previous unlocked Handspring model which is also still available from Best Buy for $599. The new model does not come with Palm’s newly announced OS, though smartphones with that OS are expected before the end of June, 2009.

The smartphone is currently backordered and the $699.99 pricetag seems a little steep. Similar to its predecessor, the Treo 850 comes with GSM/GPRS 900/1800 “3G quad band” network support, a 320 x 320 TFT-LCD touch-screen, 2.0 megapixel camera with 2x zoom and Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional Edition, GPS, Bluetooth, a button-operated (not touch-screen) QWERTY keyboard and five hours of talk time. Like the iPhone, this Treo requires a service contract with Sprint Nextel.

Palm also recently announced Treo Pro is available in Columbia.
