Taipei City (Taiwan) – Asustek Computer plans a series of business reorganizations, to occur after January 26, 2009, said Jerry Shen, president. The company’s digital family and desktop PCs will merge into one business unit, and Asustek will “optimize manpower of all business units.”
Asustek is planning to reduce manpower in its motherboard and graphics card businesses, along with implementing the same “segment separation strategy” as is used in the notebook businesses. Its notebook business will separate into two distinct segments, consumer models and enterprise/low-cost models. The company is also planning a smaller Eee PC lineup of only four models.
Inventory oversupplies for LCD monitor, motherboards and graphics cards are expected to be sorted out by the end of March.
