Mountain View (CA) – Google announced yesterday that while they will continue to hire new employees, the growth rate will be declining in the weakened economy. As a result, Google will reduce the overall size of its recruiting staff by 100. The reduction came only after Google had first left all external contractors go.
The press release indicates this was a tough decision for Google, as the press release reads:
“We know this change will be very difficult for the people concerned, and we hope that many of them will be able to find new roles at Google. They helped build this company, new hire by new hire, and we are enormously grateful for everything they have done.”
