T-Mobile debuts luxurious Sidekick

Bellevue (WA) – T-Mobile has added its highest-end Sidekick to the multimedia phone library, set to retail for $300.

The Sidekick LX markets itself as the most sophisticated handset in the Sidekick lineup.  It has a three-inch screen with 400×240 resolution and runs on the standard proprietary operating system.  T-Mobile says it is the slimmest model to date, cutting back on the bulk that plagued some of the earlier devices.

Additionally, it will be the first that allows users to send pictures embedded into text messaging.  Previously, picture messagin was a completely separate application and usually requires a lot of hoops to jump through first.

The official successor to the Sidekick 3, the LX also has a 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, and a microSD card slot.  These are all standard features for the Sidekick portfolio.

Likewise, basic control of the phone remains the same, with a navigation pad on the left and a trackball on the right side of the handset, and of course the Qwerty keyboard.

The Sidekick LX will be available in mid-October for a price of $300 with a 2-year service agreement.
