IDF: Gelsinger demos DP Nehalem server

During his keynote at the Fall IDF today, Intel senior vice president Pat Gelsinger demosntrated a dual-processor server based on the company’s next-generation 45 nm micro architecture, code-named Nehalem. The new architecture integrates Hafnium-based High-k metal gate transistor technology.

Nehalem processors will pack more than 700 million transistors on one CPU die (the 45 nm Penryn core has 410 million) and introduce the firm’s integrated memory controller technology called “QuickPath”.
