Burbank (California) – Tron, the techno cult classic that many geeks grew upwith, is getting a sequel. According to the Hollywood Report, Disney executives are in the final negotiation stages with director Jospeh Kosinksi and producer Steven Lisberger. Lisberger also co-wrote and directed the orginal 1982 Tron movie.
Tron was a moderate success at the box office, but became a classic after being aired thousands of times at sci-fi and role-playing conventions. The movie starred Jeff Bridges as programmer Kevin Flynn who must fight rogue programs inside a computer. Tron was nominated for Academy awards for Costume Design and Sound, but lost out to Gandhi and E.T. in the respective categories.
