Nvidia doubles profit in Q2

Nvidia reported growing revenues and profits for the second quarter of its fiscal year 2008. Sales climbed to $935.3 million, up 36% from $687.5 million in Q2 of last year. Net profits jumped 99% to $172.7 million for the period.

The company said that, according to Mercury Research, it currently holds 66% of the total standalone graphics chip market, 65% of the desktop standalone market, 64% of graphics chip capable of running DirectX 9 applications, 75% of DirectX 10 GPUs and 68% of the notebook standalone graphics chip market.
