AOL to provide ads to NBC/News Corp's YouTube rival

New York (NY) – AOL announced today that NBC Universal and News Corp will be using the Internet service provider’s service to provide ads to their upcoming online video platform.

Last week, NBC and News Corp announced plans to create their own digital video site after both have struggled with YouTube over copyright issues.

Like other video sites handled by, the AOL service will distribute unskippable ads at the beginning of videos that are accessed by users.

The new site, which has yet to be named, will include free streaming of full-length movies and TV shows.
