Sanyo announces 1 GB multimedia phone

Sanyo and Sprint have announced a new multimedia phone with 1 GB of internal memory. The Sanyo M1 phone can hold up to 16 hours of music along with pictures, videos and voice recordings. Being part of the Sprint’s 3G network, the phone will be able to download songs and watch up to 50 channels of audio and video. There will also be a pay-per-view service that will stream full-length feature films.

The phone actually has two LCD screens, a smaller external screen when the phone is flipped closed and a larger main screen when the phone is open. The main display is two-inches wide and has 240 by 320 pixels. The small outer display is 1.3″es and has 128 pixels by 96 pixels.

Sanyo’s M1 will have integrated stereo Bluetooth, a 2.0 megapixel camera and a nine channel equalizer. The company claims the battery will last up to 18 hours of music playing.

The M1 is currently available for $350 or $200 with a two-year commitment to Sprint.
