The PLA-400 HomePlug AV PowerLine Ethernet adapter and PLA-402 HomePlug AV PowerLine and coaxial Ethernet adapter are both spec’d at 200 Mbps maximum throughput and are said to support up to 16 connections “within one household”. Both feature a single 10/100 Ethernet port and support QoS for multimedia streaming and 128 bit AES data encryption for network security.
The adapters have a “desktop design” and require no drivers to be installed.
Zyxel’s announcement did not state the compatibility of the new products with current HomePlug standards including HomePlug 1.0 and 1.0 plus Turbo.
The PLA-400 will be available in November at an MSRP of $94, with the PLA-402 following in December with an MSRP of $114.
