Conexant pays TI $70 million to resolve DSL patent suit

Texas Instruments (TI) announced that it has settled a patent lawsuit the company filed against Conexant Systems in 2003. TI will drop the suit and grant Conexant a license to “essential patents relating to digital subscriber line (DSL) technology” in exchange for $70 million, which Conexant agreed to pay during until the end of June.

The litigation originated from patent license negotiations initiated by TI with Globespan Virata, a subsidiary of Conexant Systems.
