'The Godfather The Game' goes gold

Electronic Arts announced that “The Godfather the Game” has gone gold and is now shipping for the PlayStation 2, Xbox and the PC. An Xbox 360 and PSP version will be available later in 2006.

The game, as one would expect, will be violent and has an M for Mature rating by the ESRB. The game is set in New York from 1945 to 1955. Players start as a young member of the Corleone family and use violence against other mob families to move their way up to the top.

There are three alternate endings, all successively harder to achieve. The player can choose to become the head of his own family or move up and try to become the head of the Corleone clan. The third and most difficult ending is to become the head of all crime families in New York.

Several famous actors like James Caan, Snoop Dogg and Robert Duvall gave voice-overs for the game. Even the late Marlon Brando lent his voice to the game, just before he passed away.
