HP launches iPaq Mobile Messenger phone

Beginning October 31, 2005 HP will sell its new iPAQ hw6500 series of cellular phone/pda solely through Cingular wireless. There will be two models in the series: the 6515 will have a built-in 1.3 megapixel camera, but the 6500 will not. In addition to having regular cellular phone services, the 6500s will be able to access the Internet via Cingular’s Edge network, which runs between 70 and 135 kbits per second.

The new phones will include Bluetooth, GPS and of course web browsing and Outlook email synchronization. The 6515 and the 6500 will be available exclusively through Cingular stores for $450 with a two-year service contract.
