Intel shrugs shoulders over re-marked chips
According to a British customer that unwittingly bought remarked Pentium chips, system integrators and dealers can expect little help from Intel.
According to a report in The Register, Digital Networks UK bought a consignment of 450MHz Pentium II chips that turned out to be re-marked 300MHz PIIs. When the company contacted Intel for assistance, a representative was reportedly told to contact local police or a consumer rights group, because Intel does not support OEM products.
