Intel Corp. announced a new motherboard form factor that it claims will enable smaller PCs for reduced cost, better ease of use, and space-constrained applications.
Along with the FlexATX V1.0 specification, Intel revealed a “Form Factor Roadmap for Desktop Systems for 1999” to attendees at its developer conference in Palm Springs.
The FlexATX design is 25 percent smaller than the microATX, but Intel says it isn’t meant to replace the microATX or ATX. The new motherboard layout is “the preferred specification for very low cost and small-size designs,” according to the company. Additional information is available online at www.intel.com.
