NVIDIA Corp. officially launched the Vanta graphics processor, a low-cost chip designed to allow add-in-card vendors and OEM’s to provide a graphic chip for their entry-level add-in-card and motherboard solutions.
Ten companies, including A-Open, Asustek, ELSA, Diamond Multimedia, Gainward, Gigabyte, Guillemot, Leadtek, Mirostar, Prolink and Yuan Yuan will be demonstrating their new Vanta-based products for the first time at Cebit ’99 in Hannover, Germany.
The low-cost, 128-bit TwiN Texel 2D/3D graphics processor leverages the RIVA TNT2 core architecture. The drivers for Vanta are forward and backward compatible with the Detonator Driver family.
The NVIDIA Vanta graphics processor will be priced at $19.00 in 10,000 unit quantities. The chip is sampling now and it will be in full production this quarter.
