AMD has commenced shipments of its 475MHz AMD-K6-2 processor with 3DNow! technology.
The new processor exceeds the clock speed of Intel’s fastest available Pentium II, combining 9.3-million transistors via AMD’s 0.25-micron, five-layer-metal process technology using local interconnect and shallow trench isolation.
The AMD-K6-2 processor is packaged in a Super7 platform-compatible, 321-pin ceramic pin grid array (CPGA) package using C4 flip-chip interconnection technology.
The 475MHz K6-2processor is priced at $213 each in 1,000-unit quantities. The company’s web site is located at http://www.amd.com.
