Hyundai Electronics America has begun sampling its industry-standard 133MHz synchronous DRAM, or PC133, memory in 64Mb and 128Mb densities. The PC133 parts are functionally equivalent to PC66 and PC100 components and can be upgraded to higher speed memory.
The PC133 is designed to match the new processor buses that are running at 133HMz, offering memory bandwidth for mainstream desktop and portable PC applications.
Chipset companies such as ALI, RCC, SiS, and VIA Technologies are all introducing PC133 chipsets this year.
Production volumes are expected to ramp in the second quarter of this year.
