IBM claims to be the first company to announce a home PC featuring the latest processor from AMD.
The newest Aptiva E Series model – the Aptiva 530 – is equipped with 475MHz AMD-K6-2, is aimed at home office and small business users.
The $1,299 Aptiva 530 comes with 64MB of SDRAM, a 13GB hard drive, a 32X CD-ROM drive, an internal 100MB Iomega Zip Drive, ViaVoice speech recognition technology and Lotus SmartSuite software.
The new Aptiva will be available at select retail stores nationwide in May.
