HP embraces Celeron processor

Hewlett-Packard Co. will be integrating Intel’s recently-announced 466MHz Celeron processor into its corporate Vectra and business Brio PCs.

HP expects that an HP Vectra with a 466MHz Celeron processor, 64MB of SDRAM, 8.4GB hard-disk drive, 24X CD-ROM drive, integrated 3Com Fast Etherlink XL 10/100 LAN interface, Matrox MGA G200 2X graphics with 8MB of video memory, integrated sound, and Windows 95 operating system will sell for about $1,149.

Alternately, a Brio business PC with the Celeron processor, 64MB of SDRAM, 8.4GB Ultra-ATA hard-disk drive, 32X CD-ROM drive, integrated 18-bit full-duplex PCI sound, and Windows 98 operating system is expected to sell for $929.
