Intel shows off 0.18 micron with new mobile PII

Intel has introduced 400MHz mobile Pentium II and Celeron processors.

The new mobile Pentium II is Intel’s first processor to make use of Intel’s 0.18 micron manufacturing process.

The 400MHz mobile Pentium II comes in several packaging designs: mini-cartridge, BGA, micro PGA and the Intel Mobile Module. The chip is manufactured on both Intel’s 0.18 micron and 0.25 process technologies and includes 256K of integrated level 2 cache. In 1000-unit quantities, the processor is priced at $530 for the BGA/PGA package version.

The 400MHz mobile Intel Celeron processor is manufactured on the Intel 0.25 micron process and contains 128K of integrated level 2 cache. In 1000-unit quantities, the BGA/PGA package version costs $187.

Benchmark information on the new processors is posted at http://www.intel.com.
