L0pht Heavy Industries has introduced software that can detect whether or not Sniffer-type analyzers are being used to probe enterprise networks.
AntiSniff 1.0 was introduced at Def Con, an annual hackers’ convention in Las Vegas.
A typical way for intruders to access an organization’s network is to use analyzers that can sniff or probe for passwords to networked systems. AntiSniff is designed to help IT managers be more proactive in thwarting security threats.
L0pht said it plans to release all technical details for AntiSniff to the public.
While the monitoring software can be used by “good guys” to thwart hackers, it can also be used by the “bad guys” to sniff out a company’s network security systems.
