New iMac clone hits PC market

Three weeks after Apple Computer slapped PC maker Future Power with a lawsuit for producing an iMac look-alike, another knock-off machine has surfaced in Japan.

Apparently manufactured by low-cost PC leader eMachines Inc. and called the e-one, the new computer has the tell-tale translucent blue and white exterior of the iMac and a similar shape.

The e-one is 100 percent Wintel on the inside, however. With a 433MHz Celeron, 64 MB of memory, an 8.4GB hard drive and a 56.6K modem, the computer offers affordable power for 128,000 yen (about US$1070).
