Compaq has introduced a program that allows Presario buyers to receive the actual “trade-in” value of their old PC, without returning the PC.
Compaq’s plan is to apply the trade-in value to the future purchase of another new Presario desktop or notebook, encouraging users to construct home-based LANs and become multi-PC households.
Similar to an automotive trade-in, the customer receives the value of the Presario as listed by the Orion Blue Book, a resource for determining fair market value of used computers
To be eligible, consumers must have purchased their initial Presario Internet desktop or notebook PC after January 1, 1999, and must buy an additional Presario PC within five years.
Additional details and restrictions are posted at www.compaq.com/athome/owner.
