Sierra Wireless has released the first and only wireless wide area network interface card for notebooks using Windows 95, 98, and NT, company officials said.
The AirCard 300 for Windows allows users to access the Internet using the Cellular Digital Packet Data (CDPD) network on mobile devices with at least one Type II PC card slot. The device, based on the technology of the AirCard 300 for Windows CE introduced earlier this year, draws power from the notebook at an average penalty of less than 10 percent. On handheld PCs, an optional power pack delivers up to 16 hours of additional battery life.
The AirCard 300 for Windows is available for $499 from Sierra Wireless at 604/231-1100. More information about the company and its products is available at www.sierrawireless.com.
