Hewlett-Packard enters the retail notebook market with the launch of the HP Pavilion notebook PC.
For $1,399, customers receive an Intel Celeron 433MHz processor, a 4GB hard drive, 32MB SDRAM, 12.1″ HPA display, 24X CD-ROM drive and a 56K v.90 modem. Other features include dual speakers located in slightly flared acoustic chambers at the sides of the wrist pad, and 16-bit Sound Blaster-Pro compatible stereo sound.
A second configuration, expected to sell for $1,699, features 64MB SDRAM and a 12.1″ TFT display.
