HP takes aim at digital music market

Hewlett-Packard has introduced five new HP Pavilion PCs featuring increased music-making capabilities.

All five feature the HP CD-Writer Plus that allows users to create, write, rewrite, store, manage and share data, music and photos on CDs.

The new models range from the Pavilion 6535, featuring an Intel Celeron 466MHz processor with 64MB SDRAM, 8GB hard drive and 40X CD-ROM drive for $599, to the HP Pavilion 8575c with a 550MHz Pentium III processor, 128MB SDRAM and 20GB hard drive for an estimated $1,599.

Also included is a CD-ROM featuring MusicMatch Jukebox software that lets users to record, organize and play digital music, along with ten free MP3 songs.

The new HP Pavilion PCs will be available at retail stores, and online at www.hpshopping.com.
