Major PC makers hit with floppy lawsuits

Four leading PC makers have been hit with class-action suits following Toshiba Corp.’s $2.1 billion settlement over flawed floppy disk controllers.

The copycat suits were filed against Hewlett-Packard, Compaq, NEC Packard-Bell and e-Machines, claiming the systems makers knowingly sold computers with a floppy-disk controller that could cause data loss.
