Microsoft hit with another class-action suit

Another class-action lawsuit has been filed against Microsoft for allegedly overcharging customers for its Windows 95 operating system.

The lawsuit, filed in Florida, seeks unspecified damages against the software giant, claiming Microsoft used its monopoly power to “artificially maintain” the price of Windows 95 even after the newer, Windows 98 version was on the market.

The action is based in part on findings of fact by a federal judge in Washington that Microsoft used monopoly power to harm consumers, competitors and other companies. Similar class-action suits were filed in California earlier this week.

A Microsoft spokesman called the lawsuits “groundless.”
