ExploreZip mutation wreaks havoc

Virus researchers are warning that a new version of the ExploreZip virus has hit at least a dozen companies, wiping out hard drive data from several thousand PCs.

Called MiniZip because its 120 kB footprint is about half the size of its predecessor, the virus spreads via e-mail. It also features a dynamic bit-changing capability that makes it difficult for anti-virus software to identify and disable.
