Brazil bans violent games

Citing concerns over game violence, Brazil’s Justice Ministry has banned six PC game titles, including Doom, Mortal Kombat and Postal.

The Ministry said one of the games could have motivated a medical student to go on a deadly shooting rampage in a movie theater last month.

Brazilian police were ordered to withdraw all the copies of the games – which also include Requiem and Blood – from store shelves. Vendors who disobey the ban could receive fines up to $11,000 per day.
