Transmeta sidelined by mobile Linux delay?

A holdup in the development of a mobile version of Linux could explain why no major hardware manufacturers have announced plans to build Transmeta-based Web pads.

Only S3 has publicly committed to building one of the portable Web appliances based on the new Transmeta architecture.

Mobile Linux, being developed at Transmeta by Linux creator Linus Torvalds, adds portability tweaks to the core Linux operating system, such as a virtual keyboard applet and handwriting recognition features that are compatible with Palm Computing’s Grafitti software.
