Dell Computer is blaming chip shortages for a Q4 shortfall, just as Intel admitted it expects problems meeting near-term demand for its Pentium III and Celeron processors.
As a result, PC buyers could face a longer wait for systems with certain processors.
Intel officials said the company underestimated OEM demand for the chips.
Dell officials cited an “uneven and constrained” supply of semiconductor components for approximately $300 million in lost sales last quarter.
