Intel has announced plans to acquire modem maker Ambient Technologies and chip designer ThinkIt Technologies of India.
The deals mark the latest in Intel’s series of purchases involving communications-related businesses, an investment totaling more than $5 billion.
Ambient is primarily known for its V.90-compatible analog modems, but has under development a new chip set for a modem that would support both V.90 analog and high-speed DSL access.
Thinkit Technologies specializes in advanced design for chips used in networking and communications products, such as switches and routers. The story is posted at www.zdnn.com.
