California has become the latest state where America Online is facing legal action in connection with its latest software, AOL 5.0.
Attorneys filed a complaint on behalf of a group of AOL users who claim the program makes it difficult to connect to competing ISPs.
The suit alleges that installation of the software “deletes and modifies essential files on users’ computer systems which may result in the users’ inability to access non-AOL ISPs, as well as other problems that render the users’ computers unstable or inoperative.”
Similar actions have been filed in Arizona, Washington, New Jersey, New York, and Oregon.
