Ericsson and startup Anoto introduced a pen that will allow hand-written notes to be sent over the Internet from a mobile phone.
The device – which contains a digital camera, an image processing unit and a Bluetooth radio transceiver – uses normal ink and special digital paper. The camera calculates its position in relation to the paper and stores a virtual image of the writing in the pen’s memory that can be wirelessly transferred, via Bluetooth, to a mobile phone, PC or PDA.
The first commercial devices are expected to be available by next year.
