Linux edges Windows NT in bug survey

A new study of operating system vulnerabilities found that Linux holds only a slight edge over Windows NT.

The statistical survey conducted by SecurityFocus revealed that Linux had 30 vulnerabilities reported this year, compared to 34 for Win NT.

However, the report notes that the numbers “do not distinguish between vulnerabilities discovered in the wild and those found proactively by developers or security researchers,” and do not take into accounts the popularity or impact of a vulnerability.

The story is available online at www.theregister.co.uk.
