Big leap for quantum computing

A researcher at Lucent Technologies’ Bell Labs has designed a program that will allow future quantum computers to solve problems with very little information.

Luv Grover says his new search algorithm will enable vague queries that result in multiple answers, allowing searches “even when only very fuzzy information about the solution is available.”

Quantum computers use subatomic particles called qubits that make them capable of performing computations exponentially faster than today’s microchips.
