Sony has announced plans for a portable version of its 32-bit PlayStation console.
Dubbed Psone, the device – about one-third the size of the PlayStation – can be connected to mobile phones, allowing users to download game programs and exchange data with each other. Unlike Nintendo’s popular handheld Game Boy console, however, the PSone must be plugged into an electric power source.
Priced at about $140, the device will go on sale in Japan next month, and in the U.S. and Europe in the fall.
