Clinton announces eGovernment

Only a few days after the Clinton administration admitted it had collected information about visitors who requested information concerning illegal drugs at its anti-drug Website, the president announced the formation of a U.S. government super site. Over 20,000 U.S. government Websites will be brought together in one place. The site, www.firstgov.com, is to include access to grants, services and other federal information, and is scheduled to be launched within 90 days. President Clinton said, in his webcast announcement of the site, that it would be, “perhaps the most useful, collection of Web pages in the entire world.”
