The most interesting thing about this week’s PC Expo in New York may be that so much of it is not about PCs. The changing face of computing is reflected by the growth in the wireless and handheld device market, which many believe is becoming more important than the PC market. One consequence of this trend is a dramatic change in the OS landscape and the industry, according to an article at ZDNet News, is moving rapidly toward open source Linux. On a related front, Linux-based productivity tools for the PC are reaching a new level of sophistication.
