Alliance to produce 100-teraByte server cluster

IBM, Microsoft, and Intel have joined forces to produce the first server cluster the hold more than 100 teraBytes of data.

The system, which will include Netfinity servers with Intel Pentium III Xeon processors, IBM DB2 Universal Database, and Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server operating system, will be the world’s fastest server cluster for commercial use, delivering 440,879 transactions per minute, IBM officials said.
