Tech puts hope in DVD

Microsoft Corp. Chairman Bill Gates’ presentation of a non-working prototype of his entrant into the game console business has generated enormous press coverage. Microsoft is investing more on the Xbox than on any other product marketing campaign in its history for a simple reason. There is so much at stake. Given that Gates is probably correct when he says the game business is as big as the movie business today, his belief that there is room for another “studio” in the relatively young gaming industry is not a bad bet.
